Forestry Commission Dalby Forest near Thornton Le Dale (25miles)

Lots of graded marked trails of various lengths for Walking, Mountain biking (hire at Purple Mountain Bike or Orienteering. For the crazy people there is Go Ape (book early as gets very busy). Super Cafe in the visitor centre.

Flamingoland Theme park Kirby Misperton, between Pickering and Malton (28miles)

Strange combination of theme park rides and zoo but good fun.

Burton Agnes (16miles)

Elizabethan stately home with some interesting gardens to explore. Maze and huge outdoor games to play. Plant sales in the courtyard along with the usual Cafe and gift shop.

Sewerby Hall (12miles)

2 Miles north of Bridlington this grade 1 listed house (1720) is set in 50 acres of landscaped gardens. Various exhibitions will be showing check their website for details. Permanent Amy Johnson exhibition. Park and Garden house zoo, golf, putting and woodland walk.Visiting bands play most Saturdays. There is a Landtrain to take you in to Bridlington town centre.

Cycle track Whitby to Scarborough on old railway.

The 21mile railway line from Scarborough to Whitby was opened on 15th July 1885 originally owned by an independent company (The Scarborough & Whitby Railway), it was not a financial success. Recently bought by Scarborough council as a leisure asset.. Cycle hire available at Hawsker near Whitby
